Kids almost out of school

Its summertime again, and the kids are almost out of school. They are both excited.

Meanwhile, I get a full week off from school, and then its back at it again. This next class runs for 9 weeks, and is 100 percent online, so there won’t be any classroom stuff — which is always nice in the summer.

We’ve had 2 couples look at our house that is for sale. We’re asking $159,900 for it, which is about average for our town these days. No offers yet, but we’re doing a lot of work around the place to make it nice and presentable.

Thats about it for now. . . I’ll post again soon.

House Cleanup complete

Everthing came together at once. I took a week off from work, from last Thursday to this Wednesday. We had a house to clean, a yard sale to do, and I had a final project due for my MBA class.

The week was miserably hot, and it was very difficult to get things done around the house. We have an air-conditioner in our bedroom, so it was tempting just to stay up in the bedroom and play on the computer. But we managed to get a lot done. Yesterday (Wednesday the 15th) was the most active. Thank God the heat broke — it was almost chilly yesterday. We cleaned the whole house up because we had some people coming to look at it. I also managed to finish up my final project — a group paper and presentation — for class Wednesday evening as well.

Hopefully the house will sell quickly. I’ll keep things posted here.

Moving

The wife and I decided that we should downgrade to a mobile home, so we are now in the process of trying to sell our house. This last weekend was busy as we started the process of filing everything we own into 4 piles: Keep, Recycle, Sell, Throw Away.

Of course you never realize how much stuff you have until you try to file and categorize it all. After an entire weekend of working on this project, I feel like we’ve barely made a dent.

The rewards should be worth it, though. We bought the house for $72,000 eight years ago. In today’s market, the house is worth about $140,000. After we sell the house and pay off both mortgages, and subtract commission, we should have about $20,000 to make a down-payment on a nice, double-wide mobile home.

We’ll see how it goes. . .
