Busy Busy

Another quick post with updates

Me and work:
Work has been very exciting and challenging lately. As the Supervisor of my team, I’ve made some big changes this year. Although painful and challenging, the changes will put my group in a terrific position to expand our role in the company, and to better serve our internal customers (Salespeople, International Business centers, Tech Support, and Applications support).

Ambulator and Spunkmeyer:
Both are doing well in school. Amber is still running around trying to do too much (peer mediation, big sisters, friends, volunteer work at the community theater), and Aaron is trying to do as little as possible (that’s my boy!).

Original Cindy:
Cindy has been doing very well, with no major health issues in some time. She had one home party last week and is planning another for next week. She’s also been busily shopping for bunk beds and trundle beds so we have sleeping room for our foster kids (when they come).

Foster care:
We just finished up the 3rd of 7 classes for certification as adoptive/foster parents. The last class is on Feb 12th, and we are getting more and more excited about this new adventure at each passing class.

Thats the brief low-down. Busy Busy Busy.

Orientation

Last night, Original Cindy and I went to our first class to become licenced Foster Care providers. Since our journey to have a child of our own together (Our kids had a different bio-dad) ended in doubt and disappointment, we decided a while back to become foster parents.

The way New Hampshire is now set up, the Foster Care system is integrated into the Adoption system. Therefore, if you are a licensed Foster Care provider, you are also a licenced Potential Adoptive Parent. Our hope is to provide a temporary home to those kids that need it, and if the opportunity arises, to give a child a permanent home, we will have the opportunity to adopt.

The Foster Care classes run Monday and Tuesday every week until February 12th.

Little visitors and a new couch

Its Saturday! We had 3 of Cindy’s cousin’s kids over for the night last night. Cindy needs her “baby-fix” at least once every two weeks. The kids are 8, 3, and 16 months.

We also got our new couch on Friday! Its beautiful. The color doesn’t quite match the carpet, but if we buy a couple of green throw-pillows it will draw out the carpet. I don’t know what that means, but thats what the saleswoman told us. The saleswoman’s name was Amity. How can you not trust someone with a name like that?

Crash and Burn

So, I’m working for hours on this form at work. Its very complex with lots of links and drop-down menus and so on. I try to remember to save every once in a while. . . but honestly, I haven’t lost a file due to a computer crash in about 4 years.

(you can see where this is going, can’t you?)

So yes, I’m formatting and moving things around . . when all of a sudden the program locks up. .. in a panic, I realize I haven’t hit save in about 2 hours. I try to click out of what I was doing. . . I get the dreaded (NOT RESPONDING) in the title bar. . . I’m fairly confident it will take me 3 hours to recover my 2 hours of work, so my panic grows.

This was right at the end of the day, so I decide to minimize the program and let it “stew” overnight. maybe I’ll get lucky and the program will figure out what it did wrong and correct itself. Computers can do that, can’t they?

*whimper*

I Can See!

I just picked up my new glasses prescription yesterday afternoon. Its been about 7 years since my last visit to the eye doctor, and my vision had changed considerably.

Wow! Everything is so CLEAR now. Plus my new glasses are really stylish and cool looking. I may post a picture of me and my new specs soon, but I’m afraid the ladies may go crazy. I’ll have to weigh my vanity against the good of the Nation. Hrmmm. . .

Its a New Year – Now Back to the Grind.

Back to work today after too much time off. It actually felt good to get back into the flow of things.

I quite smoking today. So far so good! I’ve only had 3 cigarettes!

Went back to the gym today after being away for over a month. I started out easy with just 20 minutes on the recumbent bike, and a few curls. Pretty soon I’ll be back to where I was a month ago (20 minutes on the recumbent bike, and a few curls).

So, worked hard, worked-out, came home. The kids were here, but the wife was babysitting for our Godson, Mathew.

Question of the day:
Have you ever smoked? What was the most you smoked, measured in packs per day?
My answer: In my prime, I smoked about a pack-and-a-half a day.
