I don’t know who to blame this on, so I’m blaming it on the internet in general. . .
In order to clean up my sidebar, I had moved my Blogroll to a separate page. It turns out, however, that if your blogroll is not on the main page of your blog, then technorati (and probably other tracking services) won’t see that you linked to those other blogs.
So in order to make sure my linkageness gets “credited” on technorati (et al), I have moved my blogroll back to the main page of my blog. So there. My sidebar is all cluttered up again.

ah crap. I didn’t realize that. All my links are on a second page, and i don’t think I’m getting “credit” for them, either.
I refuse to change, though, because that links page was A BITCH to set up – I worked on it too long to get rid of it now. Plus it’s sooo preetttty….

I wonder what would happen if you had those links in your code, but not attached to anything… you know… like you had the a tag and close but nothing in between them. Wouldn’t the spider see the linked sites and credit your links to the people they belong to while allowing you to have a separate links page?

Oh crap. I told my designer I wanted my blogroll like yours so it wouldn’t clog my sidebar…
Oh Calista….

I think MC’s idea might work. . . but that would involve building each link in the page manually. Erg.

Why not just copy the code from the list part of the sidebar and delete the li ul and stuff between the a codes? seems like the simplest solution and something you can do in 10 minutes or so.

MC: WordPress automatically builds the code using PHP. the Links list that you see isn’t really a list, its just a one-line PHP code that says < ?php get_links_list(); ?>. So, yeah, I would have to build the list manually.

TJ,
You do realize that the average “visitor” is only going to spend 20 seconds here. To the groupies who are going to stay longer, an extra long side bar isn’t going to make or break their stay
Don’t worry, be happy!

Aren’t groupies supposed to offer sexual favors? If I have any groupies, they haven’t been doing their job.

OMG TJ haha I just saw this post..
hmm.. lets just say I don’t do sexual favors, but on a few occasions have been known to do technological or genealogical ones
